One of Eastern Michigan’s two future games played at Michigan in Ann Arbor has had its date changed.
The Ypsilanti Eleven obtained a copy of the amended contract through an open record request Wednesday which shows that the 2027 game originally scheduled for Sept. 18 has been moved up to Sept. 11.
The amendment, which was signed on Friday by both school’s athletic directors, also states that EMU’s guarantee pay for the game went up by $550,000; EMU will now net $1.55 million for the 2027 game, and is still expected to make $1.6 million for the 2030 trip.

Per FBSchedules’ report, this throws immediate confusion into Michigan’s schedule as it was originally scheduled to play at Texas that day to finish a home-and-home series. Texas came to Ann Arbor in 2024.
EMU will also have a game that it’ll have to move or cancel for that day. EMU and FCS-level Mercyhurst were planning on having a game played at Rynearson Stadium that day, and EMU is on the hook to pay Mercyhurst $325,000 for the event. If EMU decides to cancel the game, it’ll still owe Mercyhurst $325,000 in fees.
There’s a separate contract for EMU vs. Mercyhurst to be played in 2030, on either August 29 or August 30. This game is also worth $325,000.
