Through mid-June, Eastern Michigan has seen its high school recruiting class of 2027 rise to 15 players, even with one recent de-commitment in the process.
Recent additions to the future roster with their announcements:
DB, Lorontae “Nomo” Davis (West Boca Raton HS (Fla.))
WR, Jayden St. Fort (West Boca Raton HS (Fla.))
OL, AJ Coleman (Sterling HS (Ill.))
S, Hudson Heid (Badin HS (Ohio))
DT, Omarion Waites (FW North Side HS (Ind.))
CB, Landes English (Newton HS (Ga.))
On Friday, Ekelian “Eke” Henderson, a wide receiver from St. Louis, flipped his commitment from EMU to Miami OH.
The teammates from West Boca Raton High School, defensive back Lorontae Davis and wide receiver Jayden St. Fort, both made their announcements on Thursday, June 11, as did offensive lineman AJ Coleman, from Sterling, Ill.
This calendar year alone, Davis and St. Fort were both receiving offers from ACC schools like Pitt, Boston College, and NC State (also: Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Tulane, and Liberty). Davis also held offers from Syracuse, Louisville, and Mississippi State of the SEC. St. Fort also held offers from Power 4 schools like Florida State, Miami FL, and West Virginia (and Florida and Penn State, before their coaching changes).
Coleman picked EMU over Akron, Florida Atlantic, Liberty, South Florida, Toledo, UConn, and Wake Forest.
Hudson Heid, a safety from the Cincinnati area (Hamilton, Ohio), and Omarion Waites, a defensive tackle from Fort Wayne, Ind., each received their first scholarship offers from Eastern in January, and both committed to the school last week on Monday and Friday, respectively.
Heid received additional offers from Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Fordham, Kent State, and Youngstown State.
Waites also had competing offers from Bowling Green, Butler, Kent State, and Western Illinois.
Lastly, cornerback Landes English had two FBS offers before he ended up picking EMU Friday. His other FBS-level offer came from Georgia State; he was also offered by Howard, Mercer, Wofford, Samford, Austin Peay, UT-Chattannooga, and West Georgia.
On3/Rivals’ recruiting database, while still has Henderston listed as an EMU commit rather than a Miami one, has EMU in third place in the MAC with nine of its commits holding three-star ratings. Miami and Western Michigan still hold the MAC’s #1 and #2 positions on the list.
